How CABI is governed and held to account
This information is public and always will be. You should never have to register to judge whether an organisation is trustworthy.
Governance structure
Local assemblies run their own activity. Regional coordinators support several assemblies. A small administration team maintains the platform, directories and safeguarding routes. Role descriptions and decision-making processes are published here.

Safeguarding
There is a named safeguarding role and a reporting route that is separate from ordinary contact forms. Reports are visible only to authorised safeguarding personnel. Events involving children or adults at risk must name a responsible organiser.

Complaints and corrections
Anyone, member or not, can raise a complaint, and every complaint receives a written response. Where we publish something inaccurate, we correct it and record the change.

Privacy and data protection
We collect only what is needed, keep marketing consent separate from membership, and never share your email address with other members by default. You can export, correct or delete your data.

Directory standards
Standards explain what a listing must contain, how it is checked and what a verification date means. A listing is never an endorsement unless a formal endorsement process is stated.

Health directory governance
Wellbeing listings are classified by regulation status. Health-related claims are reviewed before publication and every category page carries safety context and a review date.

Reporting a safeguarding concern
If someone is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services on 999. For concerns about conduct at a CABI event or within an assembly, use the dedicated safeguarding route rather than the general contact form. Safeguarding submissions are handled confidentially by authorised personnel only.
