People, place and purpose. This platform belongs to the communities using it, and we would rather be plain about that from the start than have anyone find out later.
This is an independently operated community platform created by individual members, facilitators, businesses and community supporters who share a commitment to stronger local communities.
It is not operated by, controlled by, or the official website of the Community Assembly of the British Isles (CABI), and it does not speak on behalf of CABI Central.
References to CABI or Community Assemblies are provided only where relevant, to help members connect with one another and understand the communities in which participating members operate.
Individual contributors and businesses remain responsible for their own activities, services and information.
Community Assemblies, explained neutrally
We describe the idea because it matters to many of the people here. We do not administer it.
Across the British Isles, local people have created Community Assemblies to bring people together, exchange information and support activity within their own communities. Some contributors to this platform are members or facilitators within those communities.
This platform provides independent digital infrastructure that helps participating people, organisations and businesses discover and support one another. It does not administer Community Assemblies and does not speak for CABI Central.

How this platform is run
Who runs this platform
It is operated independently by a small group of individual members, facilitators, business owners and community supporters. It is not owned, funded or directed by any central organisation.
How decisions are made
Decisions about features, listings and standards are made by the operating group in the open, with material changes recorded on this page along with the date they took effect.
Moderation
Listings and community submissions are reviewed before publication. Anything reported as incorrect, misleading or unsafe is reviewed again, and the outcome is recorded.
Complaints
Complaints can be raised through the contact route on any page. You will receive an acknowledgement, a named point of contact and a written outcome.
Conflicts of interest
People who operate the platform may also run businesses listed on it. Where that is the case, it is disclosed on the listing rather than hidden.
Data protection
We collect only what a feature needs, keep public and private information separate, and never publish private addresses, personal telephone numbers or membership records.
Verification
Where a business or organisation is verified, it is verified by this independent community network. Verification never implies checking, approval or endorsement by CABI Central.
Safeguarding boundaries
This platform is not a safeguarding, legal, medical or emergency service. It can signpost appropriate services, and anything involving children or vulnerable adults goes through professional governance review before it launches.
Community standard
Do no harm. Cause no loss. Commit no fraud. Keep the peace. Alongside, and never instead of, the law of the land.
Taking part also means respect, accuracy, no harassment, no discrimination, no knowingly false information, respect for privacy, no exploitation, no intimidation, no misleading commercial claims and respect for community boundaries.
