Protest Meeting in Camborne

On duty for the Community Peace Service

Community Peace Constables (CPC) carry out the requests of the Community Law Courts and on this occasion were called on to act as Peace Keepers.

It is for this reason that CPC John Gilbert and CPC Ian Welch were invited to attend a freedom demonstration in Camborne in Cornwall

A week before the event the police were contacted and informed that Community Peace Constables would be attending the event and that police officers and/or constables would be welcome should they feel it was necessary.

It is our belief that the police didn’t feel the need to attend and so we had a really great day talking to the protesters. We had a lot of great comments regarding our uniforms and we certainly couldn’t be missed.

The only downside to the whole day was the cold winds which had the effect of shrinking our police dog. It started off as a German Sheppard, honestly.
