About this Assembly
The Community Assembly of Slimbridge is located a village in Gloucestershire, England, known for the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust's Slimbridge Reserve, which features a large collection of wildfowl and various wetland habitats. The village has a population of around 1,136 and includes a primary school, recreational fields and local sports clubs. The Gloucester and Sharpness Canal runs through the village, and under Patch Bridge which must be crossed to reach the Wildfowl Trust.
On a personal note I visited the Wetlands Centre in 1958 on a School trip and met Peter Scott. His presence and devotion left a mark on me which still exists today in the same way that my parents helped me to get here, Peter Scott helped an impressionable schoolboy to realise that anyone can achieve their full potential if they try hard enough. I visit the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust whenever I can and it is a constant reminder of what can be done with persistence, love and dedication to an ideal.
