About this Assembly
The Community Assembly of Dobwalls (Cornish: Fos an Mogh) is located in a village and civil parish in east Cornwall which is part of the Kernow Territory. Dobwalls is situated 3 miles (5 km) west of Liskeard. The name is spelt 'Dubwalls' on Bartholomew's map and Black's Guide of 1879.
The village and parish includes the hamlet of Doublebois and hosts numerous events every week. Dobwalls also served as a sort of hub for all the outlying farms, farming being a very important part of life in those days, and a source of employment for a great part of the population.
Dobwalls was surrounded by copper, tin and lead mines at Minions and Herodsfoot. The village would, therefore, supply the needs of the Blacksmith, Wheelwright, Builder, Undertaker, School, Church, Chapel and General Stores. It would also be the place to come if they wanted to travel to other towns or counties by road or by the railway when it came to Kernow.
